Unwanted Holiday Lights Strings?
Don't toss them in the trash, recycle them at the light drop off at Village Hall. We're open weekdays from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Recycled holiday light strings go through a fascinating transformation.
After you drop them off, they’re sent to a facility where they’re first shredded into small pieces. The copper is especially valuable, so it’s extracted and melted down to be reused in new wiring, electronics, or other metal products. The plastic can be turned into pellets, which are then used to create items like plastic piping, bottles, or even carpet fibers. Glass is generally recycled separately or repurposed if it's feasible.
