Non-motorized Watercraft Rentals
The Village of Lake Zurich now offers a variety of small non-motorized watercraft to rent in-season. Rentals allow individuals the opportunity to try a variety of equipment before purchasing their own. It also allows renters to explore and enjoy our 232-acre lake.
Rentals are available during our normal beach season from June 2 through Aug 3 and can be reserved at the Paulus Park Gatehouse. Rental times are from 12-5 pm, 7 days a week, weather pending. All watercraft are reserved in person and on a first come/first serve basis.
Approved flotation gear and a whistle are provided with rental. Day lockers are also available for rent.
For rental of single-use watercraft, participants must be 18 years of age or older. Participants 12-17 years of age may use the watercraft when accompanied by an adult 18+ on another watercraft. For rental of tandem watercraft, renter must be 18 years of age or older. Participants 5-17 years of age may be allowed use of the canoe watercraft when accompanied inside of the watercraft by an adult 18+ years of age.
Hourly Pricing: includes watercraft, oars, life jacket and whistle.
- NOTE: The Village of Lake Zurich is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
- Watercraft rentals are not available July 1-5, 2024
- Final rates will be established upon the rental return and inspection. Village of Lake Zurich staff alone will determine final rates if the rental is not returned within the allotted rental agreement time. All late fees are accrued in 30-minute increments.
Personal Non-Motorized Watercraft Usage
*Residents Only
Lake Zurich residents only have the opportunity to launch nonmotorized watercrafts from Paulus Park.
Watercrafts include: Kayaks, Canoes, Paddle Boats, Windsurfers, Row Boats, Long Boards, etc. Inflatable watercraft are not permitted. All watercrafts must be able to be carried down to the water as there is no launch nor driving in Paulus Park. All watercrafts need to stay in the No Wake area of Lake Zurich, wear a PFD, carry a whistle for emergencies, and review the rules of the lake. Daily and seasonal usage permits for nonmotorized watercrafts are available for purchase at the Barn during normal business hours, Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4pm or at Paulus Park Beach during their listed hours of operation. Daily permits are $5 and Seasonal (April 1-Oct 1) are $50. Daily permits are required and boating violators are subject to fines.

Deposits: All equipment use must be accompanied by a deposit in the form of ID, keys, or cash.
Day Locker Rentals
Day lockers are available for rent during daily beach hours posted on the Paulus Park Gatehouse or at lakezurich.org.

Non-motorized Watercraft Dry Storage
We are offering limited dry storage for non-motorized watercraft.
- When: April 1-October 1, 2025
- Who: Lake Zurich Residents Only
- Where: Paulus Park, 200 S. Rand Rd (located in front of the lakeside Chalet facility)
Hurry, this offer won’t last. Space is on a first come, first serve basis and is very limited.
Qualifications:
- You must be a Lake Zurich Resident who pays taxes to the Village of Lake Zurich
- You must have a current non-motorized watercraft season permit (available at the Barn or the Paulus Park gatehouse)
- You are responsible for locking up your watercraft with a lock and cable.
- You must follow the rules of the lake and have a certified USCG PFD and whistle while on the lake
Watercrafts must be launched from the non-motorized pier or sand area (left of the gated beach) at Paulus Park. Launching from the rocks or other piers is strictly prohibited.
Rental Fees: $125 per stall, per season*
*Stall can accommodate 1 kayak OR 2 SUPS OR 1 Canoe (no greater than 16’)
You may rent your spot by coming into the Barn, 200 South Rand Road, open Monday-Friday 8:30am-4pm as availability allows.
The Village of Lake Zurich is not responsible for any damage, lost or stolen property.
Where can I use my non-motorized watercraft on Lake Zurich?
When you have obtained a permit to be on the lake, please follow the regulations for non-motorized watercrafts on the Lake.
- Before 9 a.m. non-motorized crafts can use the entire lake.
- After 9 a.m. they have to remain in the no-wake zone between the buoys and the water's edge. The no-wake zone circles the entire lake.
