Lake Zurich Wins Large Grant for Paulus Park
The Village of Lake Zurich has been awarded a large $600,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources OSLAD program, which will bring several public enhancements to the 41-acre Paulus Park on Rand Road.
This includes the renovation of the aged water splash pad, the addition of a new bandshell, a community gathering space with game tables, baggo courts, and additional shoreline restoration with landscaping to protect the village namesake. The entire grant application was $3,089,600.
This is Phase 2 of a multi-year improvement plan for Paulus Park. Phase 1 park improvements were completed in 2022 and funded in part by a previous $400,000 OSLAD grant that resulted in two new piers, expanded walking trails, and shoreline restorations.
The Village hosted two community open house events last summer to encourage feedback into Paulus Park Phase 2 improvements as the Village prepared for this competitive grant process. The first open house was at Village Hall on August 8, 2023 and the second was at the August 11, 2023 Farmers Market.
