The current track indicates steady snow and increasing winds beginning on Thursday morning and into Friday. This will be followed by single-digit temperatures into the weekend.
The Village reminds the community of the following winter parking restrictions and regulations.
*Please give Public Works trucks ample room to work and stay back 250 feet.
*It is prohibited to park on Village streets during 2-inch+ snowfall.
*It is a violation of Village Ordinance to deposit snow from a sidewalk or driveway onto Village streets.
*Parking is prohibited during snowstorms of two or more inches. Vehicles in violation of this Ordinance are subject to ticketing and towing.
Village acquisitions of snow-plows with additional side wing plows have provided increased efficiencies in the removal of snow from Lake Zurich streets. However, maneuvering around parked vehicles and other obstructions with these large side plows increases the difficulty and the potential for damage.
Although an inconvenience, there is no practical way for the snowplow operator to cut off the snow discharge when crossing a driveway. This problem is especially acute in cul-de-sacs because of the confined space. Cul-de-sacs require that all of the snow on the roadway within that confined space be placed along the outside of the circle.
In an emergency, every second counts. Fire hydrants that are blocked, concealed, or difficult to access due to snow or ice impede emergency fire response.
