As a tech-savvy community we hide once beloved devices in drawers, closets, and basement corners. Sure, there are e-waste recycling events with long lines at not the most convenient times. This is why the Village of Lake Zurich included July curb-side e-waste collection with the Prairieland Disposal contract inked last year. Residential e-waste collection will take place this year on Tuesday, July 13th and Wednesday July 14th on as part of your regular collection day. - Residents are limited to 5 electronic items such as stereos, computer towers, keyboards, speakers, telephone, VCRs, shredders and microwave ovens etc. plus 1 TV or computer monitor. Christmas lights and cords are unlimited.
- Sorry, no kitchen gadgets including mixers, vacuums, and handheld appliances. These are considered trash and can go in the landfill.
- Place items next to your toter at the curb. Do not place items into the recycle toter. You may use a separate box labeled electronics if you want to. A special truck and crew will come by and collect them rain or shine.
This is Lake Zurich’s first e-waste collection event ever, and something may not go as planned. If you think your items were missed, please send an email Kyle.Kordell@LakeZurich.org. Please include a picture of what was passed up. Become part of Lake Zurich’s continual effort of improving environmental sustainability at the local level by reducing the fastest-growing solid-waste stream, e-waste. |
