Arbor Day will start at Paulus Park with a tree planting ceremony, tree sapling and compost giveaway, followed by volunteers departing into small groups for their assigned parks to clean up around Lake Zurich. Volunteers are needed at many parks in our community that need some attention.
We provide the bags, please bring work gloves, and dress appropriately.
- 9 am Tree Planting Ceremony
- 9 am Compost Give Away, bring your own buckets. (event ends when compost is gone)
- 9 am to Noon Paper Shredding (event ends when truck is full)
- 9:15 to 10 am Sapling Give Away
- 10:30 am - Noon Park Cleanup
Free compost soil will be available for residents while supplies last. Bring your own buckets, (maximum of 20 gallons per household please) and shovels will be provided. Grab your friends and children and come join our Village Arborist and Tree Commission to celebrate this important day.
How Long has Arbor Day Been Around?
in 1872 the Nebraska Board of Agriculture proposed that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees. This holiday, called Arbor Day, was first observed with the planting of more than a million trees in Nebraska and is now observed throughout the nation and the world.
