The Lake Zurich Police Department is scheduled for a site-based assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards. An assessment team will arrive December 9, 2019, and will spend three days reviewing the police department.
Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session Monday, December 9, 2019 at 6pm. The session will be conducted in the Village Hall Board Room located at 70 E. Main Street, Lake Zurich, IL 60047.
Employees and the public are also invited to offer comments by calling 847-307-4602 on December 9, 2019, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Comments will be taken by the CALEA Assessment Team. Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the Lake Zurich Police Department’s ability to comply with CALEA's standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Lake Zurich Police Department. The local contact is Accreditation Manager Stephanie Steiner (847-719-1690 ext. 6112).
The assessors are: Team Leader Richard Barnhart, retired Chief from the West Carrollton Police Department in Ohio, and Team Member Robert Grant, with the Camrose Police Service in Camrose, Alberta.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Lake Zurich Police Department's ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia, 20155, or e-mail comments to CALEA at firstname.lastname@example.org.
