Paulus Park - Phase I
In 2007-09, with the assistance of a $400,000 (OSLAD) matching grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), Paulus Park received many improvements in excess of $800,000.

Paulus Park - Phase II (Potential Improvements)
In 2008 an additional application for a $400,000 (OSLAD) matching grant from the IDNR was submitted for Phase II of the park improvements. Unfortunately, the Village did not receive the grant and was unable to proceed with the project.

In 2011-12 the project was re-evaluated and re-structured based on the information fom the new Open Space and Recreation Master Plan that was approved in September 2011. In July 2012, an application for a $380,200 (OSLAD) matching grant from the IDNR was submitted for the new Phase II park improvements. The additional improvements would include a new playground (re-placing Kids Kingdom), a new interactive playground, additional pathways, new fishing pier / dock, new enlarged pavilion, new amphitheatre, wetland / woodland restoration, and new access gate.
